Yucca Mountain Job Loss

Say what you want about whether nuclear refuse should be stored at Yucca Mountain, one thing definite is that losing Yucca would mean losing jobs in Southern Nevada.

This was not much of an issue in the earlier debates about Yucca Mountain, but now that the economy has gone south, saving jobs has become more of a priority.

So far this year 500 people have lost their jobs with the Department of Energy cutbacks at the project, with more expected later in the year.
